That is how the friends and family of Jarrod Samson-Hills are remembering the 19-year-old, who died after falling from a sixth-floor balcony at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Terrigal on Saturday night.

His family, from the NSW Blue Mountains, had gathered at the beachside hotel on the central coast to celebrate his mother Leanne's 40th birthday.

But the celebrations ended abruptly at 9.30pm, when police were called to the hotel and found the teenager lying unconcious near the pool.

Mr Samson-Hills was taken to Gosford Hospital suffering from severe head injuries, and was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, where he later died.

On Monday morning, Brisbane Water chief inspector Steve Kentwell said police continued to investigate the circumstances leading up to the fall.

Police said misadventure was one line of their investigation, as well as whether Mr Samson-Hills had been drinking alcohol.

On Facebook, Mr Samson-Hill's sister Michelle remembered him as a loving brother.

"To my baby brother. I know that I didn't tell you that I love you as much as I should have, but I think you always knew," she wrote.

"Even though he is gone I think it is safe to say he has made an impact on everyone around him.

"I love and miss your beautiful heart already."

She also posted a photograph of a skateboard covered in his friends' tributes scrawled in black texta.

"You were 1 in a million. Everyone loved you. Memories to last a lifetime," one friend wrote.

Another wrote: "You are a king. We are family."

Mr Samson-Hills' girlfriend, Mae Kirkpatrick, wrote: "Come back buddy, I miss you. I'm never going to see him again."
