ALMOST 10 years after she ventured into her own fashion business Gorgeousness, Bronwyn Aberley has expanded her base, opening a homewares store right next door to her William Street location.

Gorgeousness Home, which opened yesterday, aims to bring something new in homewares to the Bathurst market.
Bronwyn – who, along with business partner Kate Hemsworth, started trading yesterday – has been amazed by the immediate response.
“It’s been fantastic. There’s been people streaming in all day,” she said.
She said she and Kate had been talking about opening a homewares store for a while. Then one day a few months ago, they just decided to do it.
“We’ve been thinking about it for years,” she said.
“I’ve seen a lot of labels I’ve admired over the years, ones I’ve seen at gift and trade fairs I’ve been going to, so one day three months ago we just said ‘let’s do it’.”
Bronwyn described Gorgeousness as a lifestyle shop with home furnishings, furniture and lights.
“We’ve also got clothing, jewellery, leather goods and a really quirky range of men’s goods,” she said.
She said the business had a great mix of statement and everyday pieces.
“We really hope everyone can shop here.
“If someone wants a one-off piece, we have that, but we also have everyday options,” she said.
And in a world dominated by internet shopping, Bronwyn said she and Kate weren’t afraid to take the plunge.
“The internet affects everyone, but I really believe people like to browse, they like to touch and see what they are buying and they also really like service,” she said.
Bronwyn said she believed Gorgeousness Home would fit nicely into the Bathurst retail sector.
“There are a lot of beautiful shops in Bathurst and we hope this complements the existing shops,” she said. “We want to encourage people to shop within Bathurst and bring as much variety here as possible.”
