All is set to be revealed when the inner sanctum of the take- away giant’s kitchen is opened to the public for a one-off event this Saturday.
The inaugural kitchen open day gives KFC fans the opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes access, seeing first-hand how KFC freshly cooks its original recipe chicken each and every day.
KFC Bathurst is one of close to 160 stores opening its doors to the public nationwide.
KFC Australia’s chief marketing officer Nikki Lawson is looking forward to sharing the secrets behind KFC.
“We’re excited for Aussies to go behind the scenes and see first-hand how we prepare our famous original recipe chicken. Many people think that all our KFC cooks do is drop frozen chicken into a deep fryer – but there’s a lot more to it than that,” she said.
“We take a lot of pride in our unique cooking process, hand-coating our fresh chicken with flour and The Colonel’s secret 11 herbs and spices throughout the day to deliver the iconic taste people know and love.”
Hosted by KFC Bathurst’s restaurant staff, anyone who takes up the offer will be taken on a free 30- minute tour.
“They’ll also get to taste and enjoy two free pieces of original recipe chicken that has been cooked up in front of them during the tour,” Ms Lawson said.
“While KFC is perceived as a fast food company, we don’t take short cuts on freshness when it comes to our food,” KFC’s chief food innovation and technology officer Fritz Meyer said.
“At least 97 per cent of our bone-in chicken, chicken fillets and strips are delivered fresh to store, not frozen, and all sourced locally from reputable Australian suppliers like Inghams, Steggles and Golden Farms – the same ones you find in the supermarket every day.”
