Cars have been targeted by arsonists and thieves in Bathurst this week.
According to Chifley police two vehicle fires have been reported in the last two days. A Ford Festiva was completely destroyed around 9.30pm on Monday evening in Gilmour Street and a second vehicle was set alight in Church Lane (off Gilmour St) at around 5.45am yesterday morning. Accelerants had been used.
Two vehicles, both parked in Brilliant Street Bathurst, have had the petrol caps forcibly opened and petrol syphoned. The thefts occurred sometime between August 16 and 19 when they were discovered by the owners.
A similar incident occurred in Morrissett Street during the same time frame, with a tipper truck being broken into, and fuel and tools stolen.

Bathurst Library is inviting the community to Get Connected by Picking Up A Book. If you pick up today's Western Advocate you will see reviews for four new books. Here's a taste.
New Titles - Midnight in Europe by Alan Furst.
Paris, 1938. A shadow edges over Europe. Democratic forces are locked in struggle, while in Spain the war has already begun.
Cristian Ferrar, a handsome Spanish lawyer in Paris, is a well-connected man.
Ferrar is approached to help a clandestine agency supply weapons to beleaguered Republican forces and agrees, putting his life on the line.
Joining Ferrar in his mission is an unlikely group of allies: idealists and gangsters, arms traders and aristocrats, including Max de Lyon, a man hunted by the Gestapo, and the Marquesa Maria Cristina, a refined beauty with a taste for danger.
