However, that was the scenario in Bathurst yesterday afternoon when three members of the Albany Lions Club rode into town.
They are on a mission to raise awareness of diabetes during their 80-day journey around Australia which began on July 6.
Albany Lions Club members Marina and Glen Hurst and Guy Cook said they couldn’t let the chance to take a lap around the iconic race track pass them by.
They re accompanied by a support crew of two on the trip, and the group’s aim is to visit every capital city, and pass through more than 170 Lions Club locations across the country.
Mr Hurst and Mr Cook have previously towed a boat on a folding trailer from Albany to Queensland, and that journey garnered a lot of attention from passersby, sparking the idea to go across Australia for charity.

Albany Lions Club president Frank Bailey said they are hoping this fundraiser will help them achieve a Guinness World Record.
“More importantly it’s about highlighting the massive impact diabetes has on so many Australian families,” he said.
“We hope to raise $1 million from sponsorships and donations from Lions clubs across the nation.” Mr Bailey said that nearly two million Australians are living with diabetes.
