The 40-year-old yesterday sat silently, handcuffed and wearing a black shirt, black jumper and black and white skirt, for the brief mention before magistrate Michael Allen.
She has yet to enter a plea to the charges.
Solicitor Leigh Haywood said her client did not apply for bail and asked for an adjournment to the next Director of Public Prosecutions date at Bathurst Local Court.
But when she realised that date would be October 27 – the first day of the next round of Bathurst District Court hearings – Mr Allen agreed to adjourn the matter until November 10.
He also ordered that a brief of evidence be served by October 27.
Mr Allen formally refused bail and ordered the accused appear by audio visual link-up before explaining the procedure to the woman.
“The police will serve a copy of the brief which will include all statements and evidence,” he said. “Your solicitor will then be in touch with you regarding the content of that material.”
With that, the woman was led out of the court room by detectives.
The 40-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged by police late on Monday.
The charges relate to the death of her three-year-old son which occurred last month.
Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to a house on Cunynghame Street about 1pm on Sunday, August 3 where they found a three-year-old boy unconscious and not breathing.
Officers performed CPR on the boy before he was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition. The child died three days later.
At the time, the woman told police the three-year-old was injured after becoming tangled in dog leads and falling.
Chifley detectives have run an investigation to establish how the boy sustained his injuries and urge anyone with information to contact police.
Strike Force Aldyth has been established to investigate the child’s death, and comprises detectives from Chifley Local Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
