The day was packed with fun and road safety information and culminated with about 250 students riding their bikes along a 10km track from Eglinton Public School to just past Simplot.
“Last week the kids all brought their bikes in for the bike check day, where we made sure they were all roadworthy in preparation for today’s ride,” teacher Jessica Barlow said.
“The students were taught things like how to correctly fit their helmets and ride safely on the roads.”
Ms Barlow said the Pedal Push was always one of the best days on the school’s calendar – for teachers as well as students.
“The kids thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was a perfect way to end the term,” she said.
“And it might just help keep them safe on their bikes during the holidays.”
A highlight of Pedal Push was drawing the winners of the bicycle competition.
Wheeler Cycles and Al Dente each donated a new mountain bike.
Students Natalie Halpin (Year 3) and Riley Ledingham (Year 4) were the lucky winners.
“They were speechless,” Ms Barlow said.
“They could hardly breathe.
“In fact, they jumped straight on them and took off on the 10km ride.”
