In the meantime, as we gear up for race week, here's an interesting piece in today's Western Advocate about how road cars differ from V8 Supercars.
8.45AM:
V8 Race week has arrived in Bathurst and there is plenty to see and do. The action starts on Wednesday, with the V8 Supercar Transporter Parade from 11:15am.
Each year the V8 Supercars are welcomed to Bathurst by the impressive B-Double Transporter Parade along William Street. See the giant semi-trailers as they roar into town; always a race week favourite with local families. Following on from this is the V8 Supercars driver signing session from 12:15pm - 2:30pm: Meet the stars of the V8 Supercars Championship at the at Kings Parade drivers autograph signing session.

8.15AM:
The Bathurst 1000 motor race is regarded as one of the toughest motorsport events in the world - just ask former winner Todd Kelly. The Jack Daniel's Nissan driver has seen the highs and lows from Mount Panorama, from winning the race in 2005 to being eliminated after 20 laps when his car struck a kangaroo that invaded the famous circuit last year. 'The Great Race' is a hard enough to win - even when an Australian national icon isn't trying to ruin your race! To mark the one-year anniversary of Kelly's kangaroo knock-out, ShuRoo has joined Nissan Motorsport for a one-off sponsorship deal.
7.55AM:
As the annual pilgrimage to the Bathurst 1000 begins, the New South Wales Police Force is working with V8 Supercar drivers Mark Winterbottom and Russell Ingall to make the journey a safe one.
As current and former Bathurst 1000 winners Police appreciate the support of Winterbottom (Pepsi Max Crew Ford Performance Racing) and Ingall (Repair Management Australia Racing) in reinforcing the basic road safety messages to motorists.
NSW Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, Assistant Commissioner John Hartley said on the track or off the track everyone needs to do the right thing.
7.45AM:
THERE were pet hens, dogs and bunnies at yesterday's annual Blessing of the Animals held at the All Saints Cathedral. Read all about it in today's paper.

And in Cowra....They've got a fundraising target of $250,000 by next September and this year's Man Made Chocolate Cake auction is set to help the 6 NIL campaign keep moving towards their goal.
After losing their father to suicide five years ago, former Cowra locals Maddie and Will Gay are set to tackle six mountains, in five countries, across four continents over three months next year as part of their 6NIL campaign to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention.

And in national news... It was the night eternity came to an end.
For 15,724 days South Sydney have been waiting for premiership No.21.
Through five wooden spoons, two years in the wilderness and 10 failed finals attempts - they waited
From Coleman, to Fenech, to Inglis - they waited in hope that glory would return to Redfern.
And finally, after 43 years and 18 days, Redfern was rocking again.
The 30-6 victory was inspired by a performance for the ages by the rugby-bound man of the match Sam Burgess, playing 79 minutes and 53 seconds of the contest with a fractured cheekbone he suffered in a head clash with James Graham in the first tackle of the match.

Here's a look at what's happening in Bathurst.
ORGANISERS of the Snapshots In Time exhibition are overwhelmed by the generosity of local artist Dean Mobbs, who has donated an artwork to be raffled to raise money for the staging of next year’s exhibition.
Hosted by the Bathurst District Historical Society, Snapshots in Time will be on exhibit at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre from May 11-17 next year.
It will be curated to tell, in pictures, the story of the evolution of the city.
The pictures will be a combination of historical society archival photographs and contributions from the local community.
THERE’S massive plans on the agenda for the future expansion of Kelso, with Bathurst Regional Council planning to create an extra 4400 allotments.
AS part of its draft Bathurst Regional Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2014 there is a proposal to rezone around 500 hectares of land east of Kelso and Laffing Waters from rural to residential.
However, to cope with the growth and additional residential development, council has now moved to tackle the expected demand on the existing road network.
