IT'S exciting times for the Bathurst Pan Dragons who are getting ready to officially open their new shed at Chifley Dam.
The club, which has been paddling at the dam since February 2011, has been steadily growing.
The opening, along with a barbecue, will be held on Sunday October 19 at the dam with anyone welcome to attend.

THE development application for the controversial $6.5 million Bathurst Service Centre on the old Windyhill Nursery site on the Great Western Highway at Raglan has been withdrawn from council for a redesign.
News of the application for a two-storey, 48-room motel, petrol station, convenience store, seven shops and a 111-unit self-storage facility created heated debate among Western Advocate readers when it was first reported on September 10.
Raglan residents said the development of the 1.74-hectare (4.29-acre) site was not in keeping with their village atmosphere.

While NRL fans get set for Sunday night's grand final there was a surprise result at the Dally M awards last night.
There was plenty of talk about whether Parramtta Eels fullback Jarryd Hayne or North Queensland Cowboys halfback Johnathan Thurston would take out the main prize for player of the year. In the end the pair couldn't be split, resulting in the first ever shared Dally M medal.
Hayne and Thurston finished on 32 points - three clear of closest finisher, Sam Burgess of the Rabbitohs.

CHIFLEY LAC have released several reports on incidents around the region yesterday.
IN BATHURST a 14-year-old was issued a warning for stealing a pair of shoes from a shop yesterday around 10.30am. Police were called in after he was spotted trying to wear the shoes out of the store. Being a first offence only a warning was issued.
A LAPTOP and jewelry were stolen from a home in Lithgow between 11.30am and 3.30pm yesterday. Three bedrooms were ransacked while the owner were away.

The Western Advocate is challenging you to take four photos of a subject to tell a story, whether it be the fast paced action at Mount Panorama or something entirely different.

EDUCATION Minister Christopher Pyne denies that youth unemployment - about 12 per cent on average - has reached a "crisis" point.
A Brotherhood of St Laurence analysis of Australian Bureau of Statistics data earlier this year showed about 12.4 per cent of people aged between 15 and 24 were out of work in the year to January.
ONE man is dead and two others are in a serious condition after all three men staggered into Liverpool Hospital with stab wounds on Monday night, police say.
The 24-year-old man died from stab wounds to his upper body shortly after arriving at the hospital at 9.30pm on Monday.
ANTHONY "Harries" Carroll knows how technology can save lives. The Bondi lifeguard has pulled in a few dead bodies in recent years. "I remember every one," Mr Carroll said.
He hopes that the latest camera technology installed at three Sydney beaches will stop him having to retrieve more bodies in the future.
Four cameras based at Bondi, Bronte and Tamarama were installed this month. They are capable of zooming in for 3km on areas as far as away as Clovelly Point.

BLUE Mountains Cultural Centre is now hosting the major exhibition from Brett Whiteley: West of the Divide.
Curated by Wendy Whiteley and the Art Gallery of NSW, this exhibition focuses on the enduring connection that Whiteley had with the region west of the Great Dividing Range and features 35 works including painting, sculpture and drawings that span three decades of the artist’s career.
The exhibition runs through to November 30 at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in Katoomba.
A POST office and a petrol station are on north Orange residents’ wish lists should the shopping centre complex expand.
After the story in the Central Western Daily on Saturday about a planning proposal to rezone land north of the existing centre, allowing it to expand, some residents voiced their support for development in north Orange on social media.
A MAN at Bourke said he was deeply concerned about the town not having a cardiologist after the town's visiting heart specialist was suspended by the Western NSW Local Health District last week.
Dr Roger Chatoor, who was a visiting specialist at the Bourke Aboriginal Health Service for two days every month, was suspended from Dubbo Hospital following an investigation into his behaviour and clinical practises.

BATHURST residents be warned: Saturday parking patrols are about to be introduced in the CBD.
After the successful introduction of a mobile parking patrol vehicle in the city in March, council is ready to extend the patrols into the weekend.
It follows a number of complaints about parking practices on Saturday mornings, especially in cafe-heavy Keppel Street.
CSU AND council have received $93,000 from the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) to minimise littering at CSU in Bathurst and in the city.
The campaign will target the people of Bathurst and staff and students at CSU to educate and influence the community on the effects and overall costs of littering, and improve their behaviour.
THE Great Cycle Challenge is gearing up for its second year.
The initiative aims to fight children’s cancer by encouraging people to ride their bikes as a method of fundraising.
Participants create a fundraising page on the Great Cycle Challenge website, where they set a cycling and fundraising goal and log the kilometres they’ve ridden over the course of October.
