Thanks for having a read of BathurstAM this morning, sorry again about the lack of photos - it seems that whenever I'm not setting off alarms at dawn, I'm destroying computer systems. Enjoy the rest of what should turn into an awesome spring day as you head towards the weekend. Like always, a pointless and irrelevant Tweet to finish:

Looking for something to do this weekend?
There's plenty happening around town, including the Bathurst Macquarie Lions flea markets on Saturday from 8am-1pm at Berry Park.
For live music fans The Farmers Arms Hotel has a bit going on too, with Deadline playing on Friday night followed by Ben Kelly and a Pink Floyd tribute show on Saturday - shine on you crazy diamonds, hey?
8.30AM
If you get a chance, have a browse of our Throwback Thursday gallery here. Being early October there is a bit of a racing theme and a few familiar faces in there.

Sorry for the sports-centric focus but when you're a sports journo there is little else that qualifies as news. Got to feel sorry for Souths hooker Isaac Luke - pretty big kick in the guts to be suspended for Sunday's NRL grand final, but to not be allowed to celebrate on the field afterwards if they win is a pretty harsh imposition.
More locally, Bathurst Bulldogs blockbusting Number 8 Hayden Tidswell - to the surprise of no-one who saw him play in 2014 - was awarded his club's best and fairest award on Friday. Check out his full list of honours here.

Like any edition of the Bathurst 1000 next week's race will have its share of good stories, underdogs, hard luck outcomes etc, but the Super Black Racing Team should be of particular interest as the only wildcard entry into the race. Check out what they have to say about their assignment and the task of driving on one of the world's most famous tracks in this video:

This is a sports story that is sure to make any rugby league fan smile - the Amco Cup has previously been mostly used as a reference point for people bagging out Cronulla fans and their bare trophy cabinet. But the win from the Western Division side in 1974 has been a big talking point of late, and a Bathurst player received the ultimate recognition this week for his contribution:
PAUL Dowling led Western Division to their upset 1974 Amco Cup win, but 40 years on the NRL has made what was already a monumental occasion all the greater for the Bathurst man by naming him player of the series.
The team's captain was given the honour at a dinner last Thursday. It came after he and his side were given official recognition by the NRL at the National Rugby League Museum earlier in the day for their memorable win in the inaugural competition.
Dowling now joins a list of players to win the player of the series award that almost reads like a who’s who of rugby league in Australia.

We've just had a breaking anonymous traffic update - apparently the lights are not working at the intersection of Durham and Stewart Streets - if you're on the highway, be careful. It is a busy junction.
7.40AM
The Chifley LAC are on the alert as always - here's what's been happening overnight crime-wise. The value of copper wire and it's involvement in theft never ceases to amaze me.
7.30AM
Lots happening across the west as ever, including a grisly discovery in Orange yesterday.
POLICE worked under spotlights late into the night to investigate a body that was found in a creek in Ridley Park yesterday afternoon.
A crime scene was set up after a man walking his dog alerted police when he saw what he thought was a pair of legs protruding from the creek around 4.30pm.
COUNCILS in the Parkes electorate will receive $14 million for local road construction and street repairs in the 2014-15 year thanks to the Roads to Recovery Program.
The program will enable local councils to prioritise roads funding, so that they can invest in infrastructure based on local needs and to strengthen economic growth.
FREEDOM was short-lived for Orange man Bradley Steven Parker who found himself behind bars after he was released only five days prior.
On Thursday, September 25, Parker was released from custody and sentenced to 200 hours community service by magistrate Terry Lucas in Orange Local Court for a break and enter earlier in the year.

We're having a bit of an internet issue at the moment so we can't show you our front page for today but here's a look at what's making news around Bathurst this morning:
A RECORD number of campers are about to converge on Mount Panorama for this year’s V8 Supercars extravaganza. More than 35,000 motor-sport fans are expected to bring their swags and tents to town for the event.
With demand for accommodation in the Bathurst region at a premium during Race Week, 400 camp sites have been added to the Mount Panorama precinct for the 2014 showdown.
MEMBERS of the community have been challenged to ditch their technology devices for their mates, for their family or to simply do that thing they never have time for anymore.
Karen Golland from headspace Bathurst said participants decide how much time they will commit to being tech-free and what they would like to do with that time.
CANTERBURY may be the underdogs in Sunday’s NRL grand final, but one Bathurst family think the Dogs have what it takes to topple an in-form South Sydney – and aren’t afraid to say it.
Brett and Annalea Davies have decorated their Kelso home in blue and white, using everything from flashing lights to flags and inflatable fingers.

Good morning Bathurst, welcome to another edition of Bathurst AM just a day out from the weekend.
Seems we can't quite shake winter at the moment - temperatures dropped below zero this morning and are expected to get no higher than 19 today. I don't suppose it would be Bathurst without a little bit of inconsistency would it.
