The Sydney Morning Herald’s annual guide lists and reviews some of the top eateries in the country.
Being included in the publication is a great honour.
Cobblestone Lane is situated in the heart of the CBD and overlooks the beautiful gardens of Machattie Park.
The restaurant occupies a historic building that was built in 1863 and the unique architecture that remains ensures a fantastic atmosphere for its guests.
It was this feature that the guide chose to focus on in its write-up.
“The Mount Panorama-sized room of this local hot spot has proud cast-iron columns, a shining open kitchen and sunflowers that smile sweetly at the diners,” the review said.
“There are bright spots by the kitchen for birthday dinners or good-day-at-the-cattle-auction celebrations, and further down the back you’ll find close-talking couples of all ages.”
The staff at Cobblestone Lane put great emphasis on using the best seasonal produce around to deliver high quality dining to their customers.
The review calls their scallops a “highlight” and does not refrain from using the word “perfect”.
It goes on to say the service is “on-point all the way”.
This is not the first time Cobblestone Lane has been included in the guide, and owner and chef Heath Smith said they are proud to be included in the guide once again.
“It’s another great year for us being in The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide,” he said.
“In fact, it’s the ninth consecutive year we’ve been listed, the first being just four months after we first opened for business in 2006.”
The Good Food Guide also mentions Church Bar and Wood Fired Pizza, Country Fruit, Crema on George, The Hub Espresso Bar and Eatery, Legall Patisserie Cafe, Maalouf’s and Webb & Co in its directory.
