Both the Bells Line of Road and Great Western Highway were closed on Tuesday night and remained closed until early yesterday due to heavy snowfalls.
Gale force winds, meanwhile, caused havoc around Lithgow, which was without electricity on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Power to the area was restored about 11am yesterday. Some areas, however, were still affected by the power outage at lunchtime.
State Emergency Service duty officer Lochlan Rush said while the region was affected, there was, incredibly, not one request for help in Bathurst overnight.
“We’ve been very blessed in Bathurst, we haven’t had one single call-out,” he said.
“We’re gobsmacked by this, but are very glad the community is safe.”
Mr Rush said he and SES unit controller Jessie Davidson were deployed to Lithgow to assist with operations underway there.
Mr Rush said the Lithgow SES received 61 callouts over a 12-hour period.
“A lot of the jobs were trees down on the road; there were a few on houses and we were also called to retrieve people whose cars had become bogged in the snow,” he said.
Mr Rush said the snowfalls on Tuesday night had caused havoc on the roads.
“The roads were very dangerous, and we only got power on this [Wednesday] morning; it went down Tuesday night,” he said.
“It’s been pretty full-on here [in Lithgow]. I’d say we will be here for a while getting things done.”
In an almost unprecedented move, the Blue Mountains rail line was partially closed between Katoomba and Lithgow yesterday.
Buses operated as a replacement service between stations in both directions.
