STUDENTS from kindergarten to Year 12 will be presented with a Bathurst 200 commemorative medallion as a keepsake of the bicentenary celebrations in 2015.

Mayor Gary Rush said the commemorative medallion has been on the drawing board since early planning stages and is close to being minted.
“There are many events and activities for children and families to be involved with in 2015, and the medallion is a souvenir that people will keep for ever,” he said.
The medallions will be presented to children in May 2015 at special in-school ceremonies.
“Commemorative medallions are a popular way of acknowledging a significant milestone and we look forward to presenting these in 2015,” Cr Rush said. “I’m sure that these will form a small, but significant part of people’s memories of 2015 and serve to remind them of the Bathurst bicentenary.”
The design on the medallion includes the Bathurst 200 logo incorporating prominent Bathurst architecture and the reverse side acknowledge the Wiradjuri totems, the goanna and lizard.
“We’re working with the local Wiradjuri community to finalise the specific totem images for the medallion and are set to commence production in coming weeks,” Cr Rush said.
Bathurst 200 souvenirs and limited edition items are being prepared and will be sold at the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre in 2015.
