The company has put in a $2.6 million development application to council to expand its current premises, lodged with Bathurst Regional Council last month.
Dealer principal Greg Brabham said the two new showrooms would be built on the block next door to Holden’s existing premises, with the land being recently acquired by Bathurst Holden.
He said the new showrooms would accommodate the company’s Jeep and Hyundai franchises.
“The expansion has been in the pipeline for about 12 months,” he said.
“We acquired Chrysler and Jeep earlier this year, and they need a new home, while Hyundai has outgrown its current facilities,” he said.
As part of the development application, Mr Brabham said a new service centre will be built.
It will be placed between the existing Holden building and the two new showrooms, and while the Holden showroom will remain the same, entry for all three businesses will be in the centre between the two blocks.
Mr Brabham said the expansion was necessary to accommodate an expanding business base.
“Jeep is going really well,” he said.
“It certainly has a lot of momentum and we are seeing really really good results.”
He said the same applied to Hyundai sales, with the Korean brand now in the top four selling motor vehicles in Australia.
Mr Brabham said the Hyun-dai franchise was currently working out of a 100 square metre showroom.
“We’ve outgrown that, and by comparison the new show room will be 250 square metres,” he said.
Once the development application goes through council, Mr Brabham said he expects it will take about six months to complete construction, adding in the meantime it will be business as usual.
But he said the company couldn’t wait for the expansion to be complete.
“It will be great,” he said. “There will be a big drive-through service area with a valet system, which will be far better than what we have now.”
