As the mobile camera car makes its presence felt in the CBD, an increasing number of people are taking All Saints’ Cathedral up on an offer to rent a space in its car park.
It is a win-win situation.
As the cathedral has more room in its car park than it needs, leasing spots brings in funds for the parish, and those who work downtown can avoid a build up of parking fines.
The large car park runs along behind the cathedral.
Dean of All Saints’ Cathedral, Anne Wentzel, said people can enjoy unrestricted 24-hour parking for less than $20 per week, including GST.
The parish has been renting out car spaces to members of the public for the past decade, but since finding an all-day parking space has become more difficult, the service is increasing in popularity.
“Our car park is a real hidden gem in the CBD,” Dean Wentzel said.
The large area contains more than 20 car spaces. A proportion of those are taken up by staff and those who use the cathedral, and many have already been leased.
At the moment, however, there are still four car parking spaces up for grabs.
Dean Wentzel said a number of people have already taken advantage of the offer, which works out at around $978 per year for unlimited parking.
You pay by the year, and Dean Wentzel said those who reserve their space now will get 13 months of parking privileges for the cost of 12.
If you want to lease a car space, contact Cheryl Gewin at the parish office on 6331 4711 between 9am and 1pm Monday to Friday.
