Bernardi's IGA, located in lower Rankin Street, also houses Harris Farm Markets and the Discount Dave's retail outlet.

The development and growth of the premises has meant that the use of the car park has become increasingly popular.

From Monday, council will be adding it to their regular public car park and street patrols, using both foot patrols and tyre marking as well as the new mobile parking vehicle.

Joseph Bernardi of Bernardi Group welcomed the partnership with council.

"By monitoring the car park more appropriately, we can ensure that parking spaces will continue to be available for our customers, " Mr Bernardi said.

The news comes just a day after the Western Advocate revealed council's parking revenue had grown by 50 per cent since the mobile parking patrol hit the streets.

Parking officers issued fines worth $133,147 in the seven months from March to September, up from $87,591 in the seven months to March.

Bathurst traffic committee chairman Councillor Warren Aubin said the mobile parking patrol had made a significant impact on the turnover of vehicles across the CBD, making it fairer for businesses and shoppers.

"The Bernardi's IGA car park has had a two-hour time limit in place since it opened in 2012 and the mobile parking patrol monitoring won't change that as the time available to customers stays the same," he said.

"However, with council's parking rangers patrolling the area on a regular basis, problems such as overstays and inappropriate parking in disabled zones will be reduced and that's a fairer outcome for all."
