The University of Sydney is the latest to have displayed the CSU flag atop one of their buildings after losing a football bet on October 6.
The vice chancellors of the two universities agreed that the winning university’s flag would be flown in the week following round seven National Rugby Championship match between their teams.
CSU’s NSW Country Eagles narrowly beat the Sydney Stars at Leichhardt Oval with a final score of 26-24 to win the wager.
CSU vice chancellor professor Andrew Vann spoke highly of his university’s rivals.
“There’s always a friendly competition when city and country come together, but our universities share a common goal of producing graduates who excel in all aspects of their lives – academic, sporting and cultural,” he said.
Similar wagers have been held throughout the season and, as a result, the CSU flag has been flown at the University of Canberra, Macquarie University and Bond University.
