It’s an important occasion for the local not-for-profit organisation as its fundraising activities have been few and far between in recent years.
According to Jasmine Ryan from RDA Bathurst, the committee decided it was time to act and decided to stage an event for families in the community.
“The purpose of the day is to educate the Bathurst region on Riding for the Disabled (RDA) and what the organisation is able to achieve through its horse riding programs and pet therapy classes,” she said.
“Gates open from 10am and on show will be the RDA facilities and animals while volunteers will be there to help with the donation programs, all whilst providing lots for local families to do.”
Jasmine said the day runs until 2pm.
“There will be pony rides on the RDA’s very own horses and an animal nursery with the pets as therapy animals, including miniature ponies and deer,” she said.
“The paint the pony display will enable your child to decorate a love heart on a real life pony, while there are plenty of stalls to browse for parents doing a bit of Christmas shopping.
“Live music will be provided by KP Connection, who will serenade you while you enjoy a sausage sizzle and an ice cold drink before you wander around to the arenas to watch various horse displays, including heavy horses, Central West Vaulters and Allie Booth.”
RDA Bathurst is located off Research Station Drive in CSU, behind Carenne School. There is disabled parking at the gate and entry is by gold coin donation.
Events planned include pony rides, jumping castle, paint the pony gold coin donation per person, free face-painting, sausage sizzle, raffle which includes a major first prize proudly donated by Novotel Canberra which consists of entry to the Spirited Exhibition and two nights’ accommodation in Novotel’s five-star motel, cake stall run by Bathurst RDA, coffee van and the O’Connell RFS will have its tanker there.
