The 21-year-old has not been seen or heard from since he left his parents’ home in the leafy northern beaches suburb of Belrose on Monday, October 20.
Five days after he was last seen, on Friday, October 24, police found Mr Simonian’s car in the Kanangra Walls Road car park at Kanangra-Boyd National Park.
A keen bushwalker, Mr Simonian has previously gone on bushwalks alone in the same national park.
It is the first few vital days that Chifley Local Area Command Inspector Mark Wall has asked people to try and remember.
He would like to hear from anyone who either saw Mr Simonian or his car.
The car, which has since been towed by police, is a white 2006 Ford Falcon station wagon with registration number BR 45 HY.
“We’re looking for anyone who saw him Tuesday to Friday last week, or his white Ford Falcon station wagon,” he said.
“If they saw him and haven’t spoken to police, please call us.”
Police and emergency service personnel have been on site searching the inhospitable terrain since Saturday.
Inspector Wall said the Kanangra-Boyd National Park is rugged bushland, with sheer sandstone cliffs, forest-lined trails and endless places to search.
“We’re focusing on cliffs and covering off focus areas and a few of the waterways that head off into the park,” he said.
“Helicopters are doing aerial searches and the focus has been around the tracks and tops of cliffs.
“We’ve found no evidence of his movements.”
Inspector Wall said 40 searchers were on scene yesterday, including police, State Emergency Service (SES) and the Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Squad.
“It’ll [the search] keep going until we can be sure there’s no hope,” he said.
If you saw Mr Simonian or his car in the days after he went missing, call Oberon Police Station on 6336 1000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
