The updated look was made possible thanks to a $9000 grant from the NSW Department of Sports & Recreation.
Senior activities assistant Karen Nicholson said the PCYC applied for the grant last year and received it at the start of 2014.
Conducting the facelift was not without its hiccups.
The cold Bathurst winter stopped the painting of the exterior, which then threatened the grant money.
Luckily, Tablelands Builders found time in their busy schedule to ensure the painting was done in October.
PCYC selected ‘Buster Blue’ for the face of the top section, including the gutter, ‘White Duck Half’ for under the eaves, ‘Ironstone Grey’ for the cross bars and downpipes, ‘Bogart’ for the louvres and ‘Red Box’ for the vertical louvres.
All the colours selected were from the Dulux range.
Ms Nicholson said she is pleased with the way the PCYC has been updated.
“I’ve been here four years and there hadn’t been any major improvements in that time,” she said.
The facelift has been well received by PCYC patrons.
According to Ms Nicholson the updates are subtle, but those familiar with PCYC are able to notice a big difference.
“You don’t notice it so much, but it’s such a dramatic change,” she said.
