One of the highlights which makes this family home so special is the use of reclaimed convict bricks throughout.
The property's owners, Robert and Diane Leftwich, said the house was originally built by artists, which shines through in the aesthetic mood that has been created.
With exposed beams and the use of these beautiful bricks, this four-bedroom home is unique and has an amazing feel to it.
An artist herself, Mrs Leftwich converted a completely separate granny flat on the property into her studio.
This granny flat would also serve as the ideal teenager's retreat with a bedroom, kitchen living area, bathroom and a wood fire. There are also wood fires in the kitchen and formal dining area of the main home.
Mr Leftwich said the 40-acre block had plenty of timber to keep these fires burning through the coldest winters.
Another feature of the home is the evacuated tube solar hot water which works very efficiently.
The couple said it was a very sustainable house and also boasts a huge rainwater tank, a bore and a small dam close to their fabulous chook house.
The design of this house also makes the most of all the natural sunlight which streams in through the large windows. These windows overlook beautiful established gardens and a very large pool.
Mrs Leftwich said the garden was established 35 years ago, filled with beautiful old trees and an incredible ivy which shades the deck in summer and turns brilliant red in the autumn.
"The views are just stunning at different times of the year, and because we are at the foot of Oberon Mount we sometimes get snow," she said.
A gorgeous wrap-around deck creates an opportunity to look down over the pool area and the beautiful O'Connell valley.
"We have had some amazing Christmases on that deck and around the pool," Mr Leftwich said.
The house was recently completely refurbished thanks to the amazing work of Marisa Mariani-Starr of Starr Interior Design.
It has been painted throughout, and a new floating floor installed, along with new carpet.
Mr Leftwich said it was a very good home for entertaining and a wonderful place to raise a family because you can close off the lounge room and formal dining room to give everyone their space.
It is also on the school bus route.
The acres surrounding the property are predominately native bush with small cleared areas.
Mr Leftwich said it was great for bush walking and mountain biking.
He has created around 16km of mountain bike tracks by linking up some of the kangaroo trails through the bush.
A creek also runs through the property, with a small waterfall, and little orchard.
The couple have lived in the house for the past 13 years and are now moving to the South Coast where the climate is a little kinder.
"I really loved the garden and studio, and the convict brick is just beautiful," Mrs Leftwich said.
"It's a very warm and welcoming house. People say they feel very much at home here.
"Leaving it was a very hard decision to make," she said.
