Mark Llewellyn, the Channel Seven producer accused of physically assaulting a colleague at work, is taking "extended leave" and will not return to work this year.

"Sunday Night executive producer Mark Llewellyn is taking an extended period of leave," the network said in a statement released late on Friday afternoon.
"In 2015, Mark will return to the Network in an executive producer role working on prime time programming."
The network launched an internal investigation after sources told Fairfax Media Llewellyn was involved in a physical altercation with producer Paul Waterhouse last month.
It was claimed Llewellyn "threw" Waterhouse against a wall and tore his shirt, and that veteran reporter Ross Coulthart and producer Nick Farrow were forced to intervene in the incident.
Sources also told Fairfax Media the incident followed a long period of tension within the Sunday Night office, and high staff turnover.
The program is Channel Seven's flagship current affairs show, a rival to Channel Nine's 60 Minutes.
Llewellyn moved to Seven in 2006 to become executive producer of news and current affairs, after a long career at Nine.
