AN investigation is underway following the alleged sexual assault of a woman in the CBD on Friday night.

The 20-year-old said she was confronted by a man as she walked to her car parked on Keppel Street near the William Street intersection at approximately 11.30pm.
It is alleged the man dragged the woman a short distance before sexually assaulting her.
Chifley Local Area Command was alerted to the attack and police and detectives attended. A crime scene was established and forensically examined.
The distressed woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police are appealing to the public for more information about the events on Friday night to help identify and locate the man involved.
He has been described as of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his 40s, and is believed to have been wearing a navy hooded-jumper and board shorts.
