Sydney company SRS Pty Ltd was on-site on Saturday doing preparation work, and then again yesterday doing resurfacing work on sections of the track that needed attention.
Bathurst Regional Council director of engineering Doug Patterson was hopeful the work would be completed by late yesterday.
“Everything should be good now for the 12 Hour in February,” he said.
Mr Patterson said resurfacing was being carried out at a few locations on the iconic circuit.
“They are replacing anything we consider should be replaced,” he said. “It’s a really small part of the overall job. Overall the job done on the circuit was very good.”
The repairs are being carried out as part of council’s original contract with SRS Pty Ltd, who did the original resurfacing work.
The circuit famously broke up in a couple of places during this year’s Bathurst 1000, causing the event to temporarily come to a halt for almost an hour.
Bathurst Regional Council has been
working with contractor SRS to ensure the quality of the repairs are up to the high grade required to withstand the stresses of the endurance motor racing for which the circuit is famous.
The 2015 Bathurst 12 Hour will run from February 6 to 8.
