CARCOAR-born champion wheelchair athlete Kurt Fearnley has confirmed he has been approached about running for federal parliament, but says it is not an option for him at this stage.

The three-times Paralympics gold medallist has become a vocal advocate for people with a disability and has impressed with his articulate and intelligent commentary on disability issues.
He is a former Young Australian of the Year and won the hearts of the nation in 2009 when he completed the tortuous Kokoda Track on his hands and knees.
Fearnley is currently completing a national tour to promote his first book, Pushing The Limits, and it was at a book signing in Orange today that he was asked about a possible career in politics.
And while he said he had been approached by people sounding him out about any political ambitions, he was not interested in taking that path at this stage of his life.
However, Fearnley did not rule out a tilt at politics further down the track.
Fearnley now lives in Newcastle with his wife Sheridan and son Harry.
