Six graduation ceremonies will be held at the university from today through to Friday, where testamurs will be awarded to those who have successfully completed studies in the faculties of education, science, arts and business.
Head of Bathurst Campus Col Sharp said this week is important to the city of Bathurst as well as those graduating.
“This week will see a huge influx of people into Bathurst,” Mr Sharp said.
“Although many of our graduates will already be working, they still make arrangements to attend their formal graduation ceremony because it means so much to them and their families.
“So, as well as the 1348 people who plan to walk across stage, there will be more than 3700 guests attending – family and friends who will be there in support.
“That shows another aspect of the value that the university brings to Bathurst.
“The graduation season brings thousands of people into the city, many staying overnight and providing new business for our hotels, motels, restaurants and cafes.
“It’s great for the university to be the centre of a day that these graduates will remember for the rest of their lives – that’s the significance of graduation to many students and their families.”
The new chancellor of CSU Dr Michele Allan will preside at all six graduation ceremonies where professional doctorates and PhDs will also be conferred on 11 candidates, and 23 prizes will be awarded across the four faculties.
