Several of their students worked hard enough throughout the year to achieve Band 6 results in their individual subjects, making the school incredibly proud, according to deputy principal Gaye Dunshea.
“It was lovely to hear from all our students at brunch and hear their excited talk of their marks,” she said.
One of their students, Hamish Starr, did well enough to earn a Band 6 mark in music, ranking him very highly against the rest of the state.
“I got 93 in music, which I am pretty happy with,” he said. “I was hoping I would achieve that high.”
Mr Starr intends to take a gap year to focus his attention on furthering his musical aspirations through playing gigs and teaching.
His fellow student Caitlin Davis also achieved a Band 6 result and was confident that her classmates were happy with their marks.
“I got four Band 5s and a Band 6, and that was for community and family studies,” she said.
“I’m really happy and I think a lot of people are proud of their efforts.”
Ms Dunshea was thrilled her students had already received 35
tertiary course offers from several universities through the Schools Recommendation Scheme, with many of the offers flowing in from Charles Sturt University.
Overall, Bathurst High students achieved 88 Band 5 and Band 6 results across a range of subjects.
“That is a significant increase from last year,” Ms Dunshea said.
