"We urge people to take as many precautions as they can, including wearing all the appropriate and standard protective gear if they are engaging in outdoor activities on and off-road," Canobolas Local Area Command Sergeant Glenn Griffith said.
"It has been a tragic weekend where too many people have lost their lives."
The Orange man, whose name has not been released, was trail bike riding with family members at the Mullion State Forest, 18 kilometres north of Orange, around 6pm on Sunday night.
The bike he was riding with a 13-year-old pillion passenger ran off a dirt road into nearby vegetation.
The man and the young girl were thrown from the bike.
According to police, members of the group quickly came to the aid of the 43-year-old man and called emergency services.
Orange paramedics attended, however, the man died at the scene.
His passenger sustained minor injuries.
Police say a report will be prepared for the coroner and will include details the man was not wearing protective clothing.
Sergeant Griffith said the death of a seven-year-old boy in a quad bike accident at Walgett on Sunday afternoon should also emphasise the importance of engaging in safe outdoor activities during the school holidays.
According to police, two seven-year-olds were riding separate quad bikes about 4.30pm on Sunday at a property on Piam Creek Road when one of the boy's bikes appeared to roll on its side and onto the boy.
Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
