Kick start your day at Eglinton with an Aussie barbecue, and for the really keen, why not take part in a sack or three-legged race or the gumboot throwing competition.
Eglinton’s party begins at 8am at the War Memorial Hall, and while you’re there, check out the World War I display.
The display, with many never-seen-before items, recognises the 17 Eglinton soldiers who fought in the Great War.
“We’d like to show these soldiers aren’t just names on a board,” exhibition co-ordinator Angie Peard said.
If you’re keen to continue the party, head to Machattie Park where official celebrations kick off at 9.20am with a citizenship ceremony and community fair.
“Australia Day celebrations combine the significant citizenship ceremony and the fun community activities,” Bathurst mayor Gary Rush said.
Bathurst’s Australia Day party in Machattie Park promises something for everyone, with jumping castles, face painting, an animal farm and a newly added silent disco, which is sure to be a hit with the younger ones.
There will be live music on the Australia Day stage, with the official ceremony at 11.30am.
Bathurst’s Australia Day ambassador this year is Gold Logie-winning Australian actor John Wood, who is best known for his role as Senior Sergeant Tom Croydon in the Seven Network’s long-running police drama Blue Heelers.
Mr Wood will present an address during the official Australia Day proceedings.
