Organisers of the 2015 event are hoping to beat that tally.
The relay, organised by Cancer Council NSW, raises funds for cancer research and supports local people affected by the disease.
This year’s event will be held on March 14 and 15.
Community relations co-ordinator Bree Kelly wants the community to get involved.
“We’re calling on past team captains, and those who are interested in being a part of this fantastic community fundraising initiative, to register or join a team in 2015,” she said.
The aim for Bathurst’s 11th Relay For Life will be to reach a target of $120,000.
“Not only will you have a great time, but you will help those affected by cancer in your community,” Ms Kelly said.
“The money raised from the relay goes towards world-class research and is reinvested into Bathurst and surrounding areas through cancer prevention, education and support programs.”
Teams of people will take turns to walk or run around Bathurst Showground during the relay, which will run overnight.
Those interested can learn more about the event at team nights on February 2 and 16 and March 2 at Bathurst RSL Club.
