Richardson and Wrench principal Peter Ison said a lot of families were keen to make their move early in the New Year, making it an optimum time for those looking to sell up.
“We do expect at this time of year there to be a bit more activity,” he said. “It’s a good time to sell.”
According to Mr Ison, the market is on par with this time last year, making for a large range of listings for those looking to buy or rent.
“While interest rates stay down, there will be a lot of listings,” he said.
Professionals Bathurst sales specialist Leanne Hurley agreed, saying 2015 will be a good year for local real estate.
“With interest rates remaining at a record low, there has been a lot of inquiry,” she said.
“It has a very positive outlook.”
Ms Hurley said between January and March was a popular time for people looking to buy or rent, as they tended to transfer to Bathurst for work or retirement, with 50 per cent of Professionals’ relocating clientele coming from an eastern postcode.
“Bathurst offers a wide diversity and creates a lot of interest for people,” Ms Hurley said.
There are also many parents looking for investment properties for their children.
Ms Hurley said people who have homes falling within the $250,000 to $400,000 price bracket would have the best chance of making a sale as this is the price many people are hoping to pay.
“We do want to have a collection of properties in most price ranges, however I do believe the most success comes from homes in that bracket,” she added.
