Nathan Terence Denmead, 29, of Peacock Street, Eglinton appeared before magistrate Michael Allen on February 9.
Police facts tendered to the court told how on August 22 last year the victim was drinking at the Elephant & Castle Hotel with his wife and friends.
They walked through the crowded bar area and the victim accidentally bumped into a man standing near Denmead, before continuing through the bar.
A short time later, the victim decided to leave and again walked through the bar area.
On CCTV footage Denmead is seen to put his drink down and rush at the victim, grabbing him by the throat and pushing him back into the tables and chairs, while punching him in the face.
Security intervened to break up the incident.
The victim then went to Bathurst Police Station to report the incident. As the victim did not know the accused police went to the hotel, where a staff member identified him on the CCTV footage. The victim then attended Bathurst Base Hospital with a sore face and mouth and cuts and bruising to the inside of his mouth.
Mr Allen convicted Denmead and fined him $500.
