The fundraiser was organised by Bathurst’s Rick Foster for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Crohns and Colitis Australia (CCA).
There was music by local duo We’re Not Sisters and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to take part in some barefoot bowls.
Included among the items to be auctioned were a signed Kangaroos rugby league jersey, a signed Wallabies rugby union jersey, signed Central Coast Mariners A League jersey, signed Sharks football, Josh Dugan-signed Dragons cap, signed Cricket Australia bat (including the signature of the late Phil Hughes) and a Dean Mobbs artwork, along with plenty of other great offerings.
Mr Foster said he couldn’t thank the Bathurst City Community Club enough for its support.
The fun day precedes Mr Foster’s 1750km fundraising ride from Adelaide to Bathurst which gets under way next Saturday. He will be arriving back home on March 13.
Family members and friends will be joining him at various points on the ride.
“It was a long time in the making. I’m ready,” Mr Foster said. “It has been a lot of work – I’ve never fundraised before. I take my hat off to those who do it professionally.
“I’ve spoken to a lot of local businesses and hope they will support my efforts.”
Mr Foster said there were 75,000 people who suffer from Crohns disease Australia-wide. He will post tales of his travels on www.facebook.com/ALittleAdventure.
