National Children’s Commissioner Megan Mitchell will be the guest speaker at the Bathurst’s Big Banter community conference at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre next Thursday.
Ms Mitchell and a panel of local experts on children’s issues will take part in a community conversation about kids in Bathurst.
“Everyone is invited to the first large child-focused community event of its kind in Bathurst,” said Bathurst Child and Family Network chair Annette Meyers.
Ms Meyers said this free community event will celebrate the importance and value of children and families in the community and the role families play in bringing up great children in Bathurst.
Ms Meyers said the panel of experts will include Charles Sturt University’s associate professor Dr Frances Press, pro vice chancellor Carole McDiarmid, accredited family law practitioner James Horsburgh, family and community services manager Rosemary Hailstone, Aboriginal Education Consultative Group president Des Crawford and Bathurst community member Kylie Provest.
Ms Meyers said there will also be lucky door prizes and entertainment.
“The focus on Banter will be on the Bathurst community, and the role individuals and community groups play to help families and children belong in a happy, healthy and safe Bathurst,” she said.
