The playground at Victoria Park has become a popular attraction for many families in the area.
According to deputy mayor Ian North, it is now one of the most popular spots around town.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen it without people there,” he said.
For Cr North, the adventure playground is a top priority.
He wants to see the park continue to have worthwhile infrastructure additions that will add to the enjoyment of families who use the park.
Over the last few years, covered picnic tables and water recycling systems have been added, but there are still other items that the space needs.
“We’re definitely looking at things with water features,” Cr North said.
“There is an ongoing underground plan of what we want to do there.”
Aside from bigger plans, Cr North wants it to be a more family-focused area for young kids right through to grandparents.
“I’d like to see more seating and more barbecues there,” he said.
“That is one thing I will be asking for.”
Cr North intends to bring these ideas to council for Budget consideration, and hopes that the State Government will get behind them with some funding, but those things are still a while off.
In the mean time, families can look forward to using the latest addition to the playground, a bike education play centre. The $250,000 project is expected to be completed this month.
“They’re just about done and I expect it should be ready some time in March,” Cr North said.
