Morse Accounting Services’ tax agent Paul Dowd CTA is a finalist in the top category of The Tax Institute’s 2015 Chartered Tax Adviser Awards.

The new awards recognise excellence in the area of tax advice, tax planning, leadership, professionalism, ethics and innovation in Australia.
Mr Dowd, who moved to Bathurst with his wife in late 2013, has more than 40 years’ experience in the tax industry.
His passion dates back to the start of his university degree.
“A lot of people wouldn’t think it, but the very first lecturer I had in tax made it seem fun,” Mr Dowd said.
His work has spanned a wealth of different areas, including liaising with a mix of corporate and high net worth individual clients, specialising in income and capital gains tax, taxation of trusts, corporate restructures. property development and litigation support.
Mr Dowd holds a Masters of Tax postgraduate degree from Sydney University, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and a chartered tax adviser.
Morse Group managing partner Justin Enright nominated Mr Dowd for the award.
“Paul has made a distinct impression on our clients and staff and ‘hit the ground running’ upon joining us,” he said.
“He has over 40 years’ experience in large accounting firms and corporations in Sydney and is very knowledgeable in complex tax issues.”
Mr Dowd will be up against two other finalists in the Tax Adviser of the Year category of the awards.
They are Judith Choate, CTA, of Piper Alderman Lawyers, and Andrew Mills, CTA, from the Australian Tax Office.
The winner will be announced at the 30th National Convention, to be held on the Gold Coast from March 18 to 20.
Mr Dowd is grateful to have been selected as a finalist.
