PUTTING their pre-season turmoil behind them, the Gold Coast Titans held their captain’s run at Ann Ashwood Park yesterday afternoon before a small crowd of fans.

The run, a light session lasting around an hour, saw players going through their set moves in preparation for today’s match against the Penrith Panthers at Carrington Park.
Titans coach Neil Henry said despite the chaos of the past fortnight – where five players have been stood down after being charged with drug offences by Queensland police – his team was in game mode and were looking for a win today, despite going in as underdogs.
The Titans went down by just a single point to the Wests Tigers in round one last weekend and Henry believes a win is not far away.
“I was very happy with our young guys; Kierran Moseley and Agnatius Paasi both had great games last week,” he said.
“But our ball game let us down.
“Penrith are a good side. They accounted for the Bulldogs in a convincing fashion, but we come to every game looking for the two points.”
While his side was unable to train on an upgraded Carrington Park, Henry said they had walked the ground.
“It’s a pity we didn’t get to train on it, but the turf looked good,” he said.
As the Titans took to their training run, NRL fans watched on.
Tim and Vanessa Cain were among a small crowd who came to watch the Titans.
“We aren’t able to make the game tomorrow, so we brought the kids down so they could have a look,” Mrs Cain said. “They actually go for Souths, but they still seem pretty excited to see the players up close,” Mr Cain added.
Ten-year-old Tatiana Bosma also came down to watch.
Tatiana, who plays rugby league for the Eglinton Eels, said she had seen Penrith play a couple of times so thought she should come and see the other team.
Tatiana said she was a huge fan of rugby league.
“It’s a great sport,” she said.
Gates open at Carrington Park at 11am and the Panthers and Titans under-20s match will kick-off at 12.10pm. The Panthers and North Sydney Bears meet in the NSW Cup at 2.15pm and the NRL kicks off at 4.30pm.
