Dedicated to Fitness’s goal was to notch up 100,000 push ups by the end of the weekend’s Relay for Life and, thanks to community support, they were able to smash the figure.

After great success with a small target of 10,000 push ups last year, d2f increased the target and time span for 2015, with the first push ups being logged by its instructors last Monday.
During the week they encouraged people to give a gold coin donation and do as many push ups as they could manage.
On Saturday the challenge was kicked into overdrive as d2f instructors visited Bathurst’s shopping centres.
Shoppers were more than happy to get down for the cause, with push ups done on the knees and against walls all included.
There were no barriers to who could participate in the challenge. People of all ages and walks of life found a way to get involved, even if it meant donating and having an instructor do the push ups on their behalf.
During the week some of the older people attending classes at d2f incorporated push ups into their schedule, managing to complete 600 for the challenge, while other members of the gym also put in a few.
Even players from the Gold Coast Titans, who were in Bathurst for the NRL clash against the Penrith Panthers on Saturday, dropped and gave their fair share.
But the biggest shout out must go to Oberon Boot Camp, who did 3000 push ups between them.
“They were absolutely phenomenal,” d2f instructor Bev Glen said.
However, as the Relay for Life event at Bathurst Showground was nearing its end, it looked as if they would fall short of the target.
“When we thought we weren’t going to make it we went online to our members and asked them to help,” Ms Glen said.
While that was going on, Relay for Life participants were also doing their part.
“As everyone came round the circle they came in and did a few,” Ms Glen said.
“There was a lot of people who would have done thousands; they just kept coming back.”
Thanks to that final push, by 10pm on Saturday night they had reached that magic number of 100,000 and then exceeded it by a few hundred more.
The push ups raised more than $1200, which will be donated to the Cancer Council.
d2f would like to thank everyone who supported the challenge.
“Well done, Bathurst,” Ms Glen said.
