That was the feeling out of both camps on Saturday after the Blue Jays defeated Bathurst City 2-1 at Pioneer Park.
With a healthy home crowd cheering them, goals from Alex Waters and Emma Corcoran sandwiched a strike from City's Casey Bayliss to keep Dubbo's unbeaten start to the season going.
The Blue Jays have now won two and drawn one from the opening three rounds and coach Craig Johnston was delighted with his side's progress as he looks to qualify for finals for the first time.
"It's really pleasing and it puts us right up there where I think these girls can be at the finish this year so hopefully we can keep going," he said.
The feeling out of the City camp was pretty simple with captain-coach Lisa Quinn admitting her side was out-enthused.
"They certainly are young and quick and a bit feisty as well and determined and strong so you've got to give credit where it's due," she said.
"They had a draw with Pat's and they've beaten us so watch out."
Despite some dips in concentration at different moments of the match, the Blue Jays produced a more cohesive performance on Saturday.
After failing to score from 14 penalty corners against Bathurst St Pat's last week, the Dubbo girls had close to 10 less this time around but managed to turn two of those into goals.
After absorbing all the City pressure early on, Dubbo worked their way into the game and took the lead midway through the first half when an Alex Waters mis-hit strike from a penalty corner still managed to sneak in.
Waters was a constant threat up front, repeatedly beating the first line of defence and creating shooting chances but the score remained 1-0 at half time.
Much like the first half, City began better the second the better and after some sustained pressure found the back of the goal courtesy of a strike from Bayliss.
They almost took the lead shortly after only for the Blue Jays' defence to clear a ball of the line and from there the home side gained the upper hand again.
Waters, Kendall McDonagh and Emily Lake all struck shots wide of the goal before a short corner from Phoebe Bloink Hollier found its way to young gun Emma Corcoran out wide in the circle.
A skilful turn saw her get past the first defender and a low shot beat the goalkeeper and put Dubbo back in front.
The Blue Jays finished the match the better but couldn't extend their lead.
"We did a lot of work on Monday night on them (short corners) and it was pleasing, we were attacking right until the end," coach Johnston said.
"Our aim was to hold on to possession because City are a good side and then try and come home strong and that's what we did."
