The fete coincided with the NSW State election and many voters took the opportunity to buy a ticket in the chocolate wheel while they waited to vote.
Fete organisers Margaret Gibson and Leonie Keogh said they were happy with the turn-out at the fete.
“Last year was the first one in quite a number of years,” Mrs Gibson said.
“We’re picking up the voting crowd and people are having a bit of a look.”
All funds raised on the day will go to the Cathedral of St Michael and St John restoration fund.
Stalls catered for a wide variety of tastes.
“There’s Devonshire teas, a plant stand, the chocolate wheel, as well as a cake stall and barbecue,” Mrs Gibson said.
Taste buds were tantalised with home-baked goodies at a stall manned by Melissa Feltham, Pat McAulley, Stella Feebrey and Margaret Alderman.
Michael Ryan, Judy Ryan and Denis Cooper cooked up a storm on the barbecue.
A highlight for many visitors was a visit to the nostalgia display which featured 150 years worth of parishioners’ wedding gowns, christening smocks and first communion dresses.
“It’s 150 years of celebrations in the cathedral – weddings, baptisms and first communions,” exhibition co-ordinator Zena Montgomerie said.
“They were all donated by parishioners.”
Mrs Montgomerie said a photograph of Charles and Theresa Briggs’ wedding from October 15, 1919 was the oldest item on display, and it came with a special connection.
Also on display was the couple’s daughter Mary’s wedding gown from her October 28, 1950 wedding to John Eviston.
Mrs Gibson, along with Mrs Keogh and Jenny Rea have been working behind-the-scenes on the fete for a number of months.
