The structure that houses the new Chapel of Saint Andrew and Saint John dates back to the late-1800s, when it was an outbuilding.
When the basalt structure was built in 1892 it housed a blacksmith’s quarters, and was one of five similar buildings scattered around the property.
Standing back from Abercrombie House, it has views over Mount Pleasant, where stonemasons carved out its heavy basalt blocks more than a century ago.
The ground on which the chapel stands was also consecrated by the former Anglican Bishop of Bathurst, Richard Hurford, prior to his retirement.
“It was important to him [Bishop Hurford] because in the modern age a lot of [wedding] ceremonies and religious activities take place outside churches,” Mr Morgan said.
He expects because the chapel is on consecrated ground it will hold “great significance” to those who hold their wedding within its walls.
The doors of the new chapel date back to 1840 and were “rescued” from the original All Saints’ Parish Church, before it was rebuilt as the All Saints’ Cathedral.
“There were all these old doors on a bonfire to get rid of, so my father [Rex Morgan] rescued them,” he said.
Mr Morgan said opening the chapel will help keep Abercrombie House sustainable into the future.
“We are entering the golden age of Bathurst now ... we’ve got good food, good wines, there’s plenty to do,” he said.
“At the same time we’ve still got the sense of community and that is really nice.
“I think it’s the most exciting time in Bathurst’s history.”
Mr Morgan often speaks out about Bathurst’s tourism opportunities, not just at Abercrombie House, but across the board. He says that the city has more potential than simply as a motorsport destination.
“There are so many ways that these old [heritage] places can diversify,” he said.
In an effort to diversify interests at Abercrombie House, regular music events, high teas, festivals, tours and car show and shine events are held.
A new antique shop will open by Easter Sunday, with a coffee shop to open soon at the property.
Abercrombie House is open during school holidays.
