Her visit was organised by local Labor Party representatives who wanted to help provide an inclusive environment for their supporters while discussing important issues.
President of Country Labor in Bathurst, Miranda Gott, said the Bathurst branch of Labor invited Ms Kearney to Bathurst “to promote left-wing views in the town”.
The ACTU leader will give a free talk at the Oxford Hotel on Piper Street.
Ms Kearney is a keen advocate for the rights of workers and it is expected her discussion will focus on areas in which trade unions can help improve those aspects of working life.
“She is very interested in promoting the relevance of unions to improve Australian values,” Ms Gott said.
Adding to the significance of the talk is the fact that it falls on Labour Day.
“It is the day when people celebrate the efforts of our forebears in creating a safe working environment,” Ms Gott said.
“We are delighted to have her come to speak on Labour Day.
“When you live in a town that has a Nationals member you can feel a bit isolated, so it’s nice to meet people who share more left-wing political views.”
People interested in attending Ms Kearney’s talk are asked to arrive at the Oxford Hotel at 5.30pm for 6pm.
Dinner and drinks will be available.
Wearing red is encouraged, and those who do will go into the draw for a lucky door prize.
