Emergency services were first called to an injured female pedestrian on Limekilns Road, east of Hughes Street, after a car veered off the road and hit her at around 9am.
Chifley Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Andrew Spliet said the pedestrian was aged in her 80s.
“A single car crashed into the woman. It mounted the kerb and crashed into the pedestrian,” he said.
NSW Ambulance Service Superintendent Brad Porter said the woman was transported to Orange hospital with chest and abdominal injuries in a serious but stable condition.
The female driver of a Mazda 6 station wagon involved in the accident was assessed by paramedics, but not transported to hospital.
The accident is now under investigation by the NSW Police Crash Investigation Unit.
Just 35 minutes later, emergency services rushed to the corner of Stanley and George streets after a cyclist collided with a Holden sedan.
Superintendent Porter said the 45-year-old male cyclist was conscious and complaining of back pain when paramedics arrived at 9.35am.
Paramedics treated the cyclist on the roundabout where he fell off his bike. The bike was buckled from the impact.
Following treatment, the cyclist was transported to Orange hospital by ambulance.
The male driver of the Holden sedan was questioned by police at the scene.
The roundabout remained closed to traffic for more than an hour following the accident.
Late yesterday, Orange hospital staff were preparing the cyclist to be transferred to Sydney’s Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The elderly female pedestrian who was struck by the car remained in Orange hospital in a stable condition.
No charges have been laid for either accident and police have called on witnesses to either incident to contact Bathurst Police Station on 6332 8699.
