ARTY Shead is back, and in the nick of time too.
Finally, after weeks of speculation, the monster prop will return in Orange Hawks’ round five Group 10 premier league clash with Oberon at Wade Park on Sunday.
Shead missed Hawks’ three season opening losses through injury, and given a lack of match fitness will come off the bench tomorrow as his side searches for its first win of the year.
“It’s good to have him back that’s for sure,” Hawks captain-coach Brock McGarity said.
“It’s a pretty handy front row with him and Mitch Davis. So they should provide us with plenty of go forward.”
The winless Hawks take on the Tigers, also without a victory, in a battle of the cellar dwellers tomorrow but McGarity said, crucially, his side knows exactly where it has been going wrong.
“We’ve been completing somewhere around 35 per cent, and that won’t win you games anywhere,” he explained.

“There is only so much you can defend. We know we have the team to win games, we really just need to hold the ball and minimise errors.”
The two blues have shown glimpses of their best, McGarity said, but have shown their worst just as often.
“We were good in the first half against Cowra, but we let them back into the game with errors and a couple of soft tries,” he said.
“We held the ball for 10 minutes against Blayney and scored 22 points. We know we can do it, we just need to do it consistently.
“If we can complete at 60 or 70 per cent or higher, I’m confident we’ll get a few wins on the board, starting (tomorrow).”
Hawks and Oberon kick off at 2.30pm.
