Born in the Riverina, the eldest child of a family on the land, she spent her early years on her father's wool-growing property at Coolamon, NSW. She had two brothers, Rex and Bruce.
Her paternal grandparents were pioneer settlers in the area with an ancestry dating back to the early days of the colony of NSW.
In 1937 she married Jack Edwardes, then the deputy shire clerk at Coolamon, and in 1942 they moved to Rockley when Jack became the shire clerk of Abercrombie Shire.
A few years later the shire offices were relocated to Perthville where they brought up their family. They later moved to Bathurst on Jack's retirement in 1980.
During her teenage years, while a boarder at the Wagga Grammar School, she was taught and excelled in the techniques of fine art. She was creative all of her life.
During the 1970s and 1980s she was an active member of the Bathurst Art Gallery Society and exhibited her paintings at local and other regional art exhibitions, where she won awards.
She was also a member of the Bathurst View Club and Perth- ville Uniting Church craft group.
Later in the 1990s, while living alone, she sometimes opened her home in Brilliant Street for charity fundraising.
Her art, garden and personality were always an attraction.
Georgina spent the last six years of her life happily at the Cheriton Retirement Village.
She was a unique lady and is remembered by her family, friends and others who met her with love and gratitude.
She is survived by her daughters Georgina, Genevieve, Louise and Cherilyn, and her 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
