It’s a big call, but I love big predictions almost as much as I love mediocre Keanu Reeves movies. Especially the one about the bus that had to speed around a city, keeping its speed above 50, and if its speed dropped it would explode.

I think it was called ‘The Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down’.

I digress.

Before you baulk at the prediction, look at the form.

Orange CYMS are back to their best, sitting undefeated on top of the Group 10 premier league ladder and with a game in hand over all but one of their rivals.

From what I’ve seen it will take something special to stop them re-stocking the trophy cabinet.

Hawks, struggling at present, will improve. Mark my words: the two blues will make the five and challenge in September.

They will win the under 18 competition though. Hawks are undefeated and boasting a positive 170 points difference. Just give them the trophy.

Orange Emus are on top of the Blowes Clothing Cup ladder, building on last year’s grand final appearance.

Their bitter rivals Orange City are third and getting better every week. The Lions’ undefeated lower grade outfits are leading both the second grade and colts competitions, too.

At the very least, I’m confident of the top grade silverware being polished by an Orange side come season’s end.

At this stage, there’s a big chance the colour city will host both codes’ grand finals.

Two of Orange’s three hockey sides have started well, with Wanderers and Ex-Services registering encouraging early-season Premier League Hockey victories.

I’ll back Wanderers, with a bunch of quality recruits and two wins on the board from as many starts, even if they haven’t enjoyed great success seasons past.

For Ex-Services, it’s about reaching their potential. Statistically the best defensive side in the competition, they boast at least one game up their sleeve courtesy of two pre-winter byes and sit just one win away from the summit of the ladder. 

Everyone knows how good Orange is at netball, the Thunder are ridiculous. Next sport.

Bathurst is sometimes competitive in Central West AFL, but it seems like every side but Orange is losing players.

No team can seriously - or at least consistently - compete with the Tigers. Orange will win it’s third straight flag in 2015 in a canter.

I’m not trying to degrade other towns’ teams here. The amount of talent around the region is undeniable.

Think of this as more of a challenge: stop the Orange Bus That Can’t Slow Down ... if you can
