“We’re definitely hoping to see a NSW victory down here,” he said yesterday, in the lead-up to tonight’s opening match between Queensland and NSW.
He said State of Origin was always a popular night at the club, which boasting the biggest plasma screen in town, attracting a large crowd wanting to see the action up close.
“Our screen is 103 inches. It’s definitely the biggest plasma screen in town,” he said.
Mr Sargent said some of the staff would be wearing their side’s jersey, and he said just because the workers live in NSW doesn’t mean they support the Blues.
“The staff really get into it,” he said.
“We’ve got a few die-hard Maroons supporters, there is definitely some real competition.”
“The patrons also get in on it too – there’s definitely a friendly rivalry on the night.
“Everyone ribs each other about who’s going to win.”
He said there would be plenty of fun on the night. Anyone who buys a VB will receive a ticket to win a Blues’ jersey, which will be drawn at the end of the game.
Mr Sargent said there would also be bistro specials during the night.
