BEING such a transient club means that a lot of the CSU Mungoes' history goes undocumented at times, but it would be doubtful at any stage of their four decades that they have produced the kind of effort they did on Saturday.

The CSU Blue team took on competition newcomers Lithgow Giants in the New Era Cup and waltzed away with an 86-4 hammering to give their for-and-against a significant boost heading into a three-week break.
"In the time I've been around the club, there hasn't been a scoreline like this and talking to some of the older boys there hasn't been one since they've been playing and that goes back 11 years or so," club copresident Dean Hodges said.
"It was a great team performance and one where everything clicked, and it really sets the Blue team up now for the rest of the season if they can build on it."
The Blue side went into the game with two wins from five matches, but were heavy favourites to get the points against the Giants who are clearly still finding their feet and were winless.
The signs, even from the opening 10 seconds, were ominous in the match which was held at Wallerawang.
Blues prop Brendon Bartlett stormed through the defence on his first carry of the game, making an 80 metre bust.
From the next play the students crossed the line and the floodgates never really closed from that point on.
The action wasn't limited to the scoreboard, with a player from each side sent off after 15 minutes following a dust-up.
Not long after, the Giants' captain was ejected from the match while on the bench due to a run-in with the referee, while CSU lost another player from the field following another fight.
"There was a head-butt from a Lithgow player and our guy reacted with a punch, both players were sent off because of the 'one punch' rule," Hodges explained.
"Their captain said something to the ref while he was on the bench so he wasn't allowed to come back on, and soon after we had a player sent off again for a punch. We were pretty ill-disciplined.
"But even with an 11-on-12 disadvantage we were still able to create overlaps and make breaks pretty regularly."
The Giants will now face the CSU Yellow team this Saturday and will be desperate to avoid a repeat, while the clash comes at the perfect time for Yellow who have just one win and have battled a crippling injury toll.
They had the bye on the weekend. "Things have been pretty bad where injuries are concerned, but we think almost everyone is back for this game," Hodges said.
"One of our key forwards in Phil Thurgood will probably still miss the game, but outside of him we're close to fullstrength.
"The week after, we have a general bye for the June long weekend. Blue have their regular bye this week too so they get a long break and that probably isn't a bad thing.
"It will give them a chance to regroup and not get too far ahead of themselves after Saturday. I'd say they will have a pretty hard couple of weeks at training though.
"We have Blackheath at Diggings Oval after the long weekend for our Old Boys Day, that should be a huge afternoon."
