David James Dodd Reid, 18, of the Upper Turon Road, Sofala, appeared before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court on Monday, charged with possessing a prohibited drug.
Police facts tendered to the court told how at around 3am on March 22 this year police conducted a licensed premises inspection at the Edinboro Castle Hotel in William Street.
Police approached Dodd Reid and asked for identification.
Dodd Reid began to walk away from police, saying he had lost his wallet and he needed to find it.
Police followed the accused to a quieter area of the hotel and asked him to empty his pockets as his wallet could be seen in his front right pocket.
Dodd Reid emptied his pockets and, while doing so, police noticed him holding a clear snap lock bag in his right hand which he was trying to hide under the table.
Police asked Dodd Reid what was in the bag and he placed it on a table. It contained three green tablets with lightning bolts marked on them.
Police spoke to him but because he was so drunk they gave him an official move on direction from the hotel.
He then went to Bathurst Police Station where he was offered an interview with police but he said he wanted to speak to his mother first.
He was subsequently charged with the matter.
Mr Allen death with the matter by way of a Section 10 Conditional Discharge, putting him on a good behaviour bond for a period of six months.
He also ordered the three tablets be destroyed.
