But the 31-year-old has taken her amazing voice from Bathurst to Eugowra, and now she is letting it shine on the Nine Network’s hit show The Voice.
“I’ve tried out for different shows like that in the past,” she said.
“It is just a bit of a way of raising your profile and getting a few more gigs.”
On Monday night, Ms Adams impressed four of the five judges with her rendition of Beyonce’s Work It Out, but despite her experience on the stage she wasn’t confident.
“It was the most nervous I have ever been in my life,” she said. “I don’t think anything could have prepared me for that.”
But her nerves were eased when Delta Goodrem turned her chair halfway through the performance.
“It kind of makes you relax a bit knowing that someone has turned and you’re in the show,” she said.
By the end of the song twin judging team Joel and Benji Madden had turned around and so had UK pop princess Jessie J, the mentor Ms Adams would eventually choose to join for the remainder of the competition.
“Her voice is most similar to mine and I thought she would be the one who would help me improve,” she said.
“I’d like to hone in on my singing ability.”
Ms Adams is enjoying being part of The Voice, but isn’t focusing on winning just yet. She hopes to learn from some of the industry’s best performers.
“I kind of like to take every day as it comes and see where it goes,” she said.
